Registration and licenses 

The exporting business must be registered with the state officials to export goods from the nation and pass customs officials. Additionally, the business needs to acquire various licenses to sell bulk products. 

You must submit a request form together with the specifics of the goods you want to import to register the venture. The government demands a bank account and sufficient resources. Submit your request for a commerce and exporting license after registering. If you want to export cigarettes or alcohol, you could require a second license.

Export procedure 

With the exception of three commodities, all shipments are tariff and excise free. Crude skins and leather are subject to an export tax at a level of 80% of the FOB price. 15% of the FOB valuation is the export duty rate applicable to raw cashew nuts. Last but not least, there is a 10% FOB charge for wet blue leather. The export process from Tanzania is as follows:

  • Select an authorized clearing agent;
  • Submission of online documents before product inspection
  • Give the agent the necessary paperwork. 
  • Calculate export taxes, if any. 
  • Packing the export shipment while under TRA’s watch.
  • The employed agent gives TRA the details of the timetable. 
  • TRA validates gate checks and verifies the arrival of shipment.
  • TRA approves or rejects loading declaration. 
  • The export manifest is submitted to TRA by the shipping agent. 
  • The export manifest is approved or rejected by TRA.
